Abortion: The Roe vs. Wade decision of 1973, the result of years of abortion-rights activism, created a legal right to abortion from a specious interpretation of the Constitution. Since then, some 55 million babies have been aborted. The vast majority of these children would otherwise have had normal births and healthy lives.
Decline of Marriage: The 1970s and 1980s witnessed an epic rise in the failure rate of marriage. In 1960 married families made up almost three-quarters of all households; but by the census of 2010 they accounted for just 48% of them. The divorce rate leveled off in the 1990s and is now dropping largely because people are choosing not to marry in the first place.
Illegitimacy: In 1960, 5.3% of all births in America were to unmarried women. By 2010, it was 40.8%.1
Demise of Fatherhood: Instead of two parents being responsible for the children they conceive, an expectation that was held up by social norms and by the law, we now take it for granted that neither parent is necessarily responsible for their children. Men are now considered to be fulfilling their duties merely by paying court-ordered child support.2 By making the birth of the child the physical choice of the mother, the Sexual Revolution has made marriage and child support a social choice of the father.3
Disease: AIDS became a thing in the 1980s and has claimed millions of casualties. Sexually-transmitted diseases in general, many of them incurable, are now rampant among our population. Millions of people suffer from depression and disorders due to sexual exploitation and violation, and thousands have committed suicide.
Violence: An American youth is 3.8 times more likely to become the victim of a serious violent crime if he or she lived in a home where the householder was unmarried than if he or she lived with married parents.4]
Exploitation: Our culture promotes and celebrates the sexual exploitation of people, particularly women. Vendors and marketers target homosexuals, exploiting the vanity and mental instability of their targets for profit and fame.
