My message to the Boy Scouts of America regarding the allowing of homosexuals to join and serve as officers:

Don't ask, don't tell. Sexuality is a deeply personal matter. The Boy Scouts should respect the intimacy and privacy of human sexuality in general and the sexual orientations of its members. I do not think that it is wise for BSA to expel or publicly ostracize members for claiming homosexual orientation. However, BSA should retain a strong stance for traditional values and opinions on human sexuality. BSA should offer a promise of confidentiality for those struggling with sexual orientation, yet rebuke those who demand public recognition and/or endorsement of their orientation or lifestyle. And BSA should make it clear that anyone who engages in sexually-explicit behavior in a public manner will not be welcome in the Boy Scouts.
